Car Air Filter and Diesel Filter

Regularly replacing your car’s air filter is an essential part of vehicle maintenance. In addition to your car’s air filter – oil and fuel filters also play crucial roles in keeping your car running smoothly and efficiently.

Over time, your car’s filters can become clogged with dirt, debris, and contaminants, reducing your vehicle’s performance. Replacing filters at the recommended intervals helps ensure optimal engine performance, fuel economy, and emission control.

Kwik Kar helps you prevent the risks of clogged, car air filters and allows air flow to easily make its way to your engine.

Kwik Kar Takes Care of Diesel Filters

Diesel filters are designed to manage a variety of contaminants thrown their way during engine use. A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is a specialized diesel filter that captures and traps particulate matter from diesel engine exhaust gases.

Diesel engines produce more particulate matter compared to gasoline engines.  DPFs are essential in reducing harmful emissions.

Over time, the trapped particles build-up, and the DPF goes through a process called regeneration where the trapped particles are burned off to prevent clogging.

Despite regeneration, diesel fuel filters should be changed every 10,000 – 15,000 miles. The auto experts at Kwik Kar know exactly what to put into your diesel vehicle and are prepared to make any critical replacements on your car or truck.

Car Filter Replacement FAQs

The difference between the two filter types primarily lies in their purpose. Fuel filters remove contaminants like dirt, rust, and water from fuel, preventing damage to the fuel injectors and engine.

Oil filters remove contaminants from the engine oil to prevent wear on bearings, cylinders, and other moving parts. These contaminants include soot, metal shards, and carbon deposits that can be found in standard engine oil.

Another big difference between the two filters is their replacement frequency. Fuel filters typically need replacement every 20,000-150,000 miles. Oil filters are replaced more often, usually every 5,000-7,500 miles.

Your car has several filters involved that keep it functional. With regard to the cabin air filter and engine air filter, both are essential for keeping your car running smoothly and comfortably for those in it. The engine air filter cleans the air entering the engine, while the cabin filter cleans the air entering the passenger compartment.

We recommend changing your vehicle’s air filters at least once a year or every 12,000 – 15,000 miles.

An oil filter is usually mounted horizontally or vertically on your vehicle’s engine.

Some manufacturers recommend changing your oil filter with every other oil change. As a courtesy, Kwik Kar always changes your oil filter during an oil change.  However, we believe that to keep your vehicle running efficiently, it can’t hurt to change your oil filter with each change every 3-6 months.

Cabin air filters are generally located in one of two places. Most vehicles have the cabin filter directly behind the glove compartment, while others place the cabin filter under the hood of your car.
